TAMU-C Chapter of Sigma Xi (Student Research Forum96)
The third annual Student Research Forum was held on Thursday,
April 18, 1996, in the Hall of Sciences building on the Commerce
campus of East Texas State University. There were
11 oral presentations by graduate students and
7 oral presentations by undergraduate students
(no students elected to have a poster presentation).
The presentations were limited to 12 minutes, with an extra 3 minutes
allotted for questions. Schedules, in rough form, are available
here for the undergraduate student
presentors,
and here for the graduate student presentors.
There was a reception in the west lobby of the Hall of Sciences
after all the presentations were completed. Each student presentor
received a certificate commending them for their efforts in original
scientific research.
Some prizes were then awarded,
at 5:30pm, as follows.
Two undergraduate student presentors, Corey Kershaw and
Alma Rillera,
each received a laser light pen.
Six graduate student presentors, Brent Cuttrell,
Christopher Donaho, Todd Freeman,
Chad Henry, Huseyin Karacali, and John Wolfgang
each
received an invitation to join Sigma Xi, with dues for the first year
covered by the Chapter (through a generous donation from the Graduate
School at ETSU).
Next, two graduate student presentors, Christopher Donaho and Todd Freeman,
each received a laser light pen as well.
