Abstract: What aspects of a training in mathematics appeals to IT companies? What is middleware? What is it like working in a "picks and shovels" company in the internet/e-commerce age? I will answer these questions as well as give an example of a problem that I worked on: a multi-user B+ tree used to index in memory data tables.
