Gerald Howard Read Scholarships

PDK members may request an application for the Gerald Howard Read Scholarships from PDK International, 408 N. Union, P.O. Box 789, Bloomington, IN 47402-0789. The scholarship deadline is February 1 each year and the effective date is June 1 with the scholarship being valid for 24 months. All awards are made on a competitive basis with emphasis placed on two particular sections of the application, 1) service given to Phi Delta Kappa (at the chapter, state, district, and international levels); and 2) how the seminar experience will contribute to your personal and professional development; and 3) how the seminar experience will be of benefit to Phi Delta Kappa. Only information requested on the form is considered in the judging. No attachments will be examined.

Chapter Scholarships

Chapter 101 annually has funded and awarded two to four scholarships in our Scholarship program. Based on applications submitted, recipients are selected in up to four areas: undergraduate, masters, doctoral and research. Applications are available from the chapter scholarship chair in the Spring semester or on this site when applications are being solicited. The scholarships are competitive and selected in a comprehensive review of applicants in accordance with the Univesity’s guidelines.

Chapter 101 awarded two scholarships in our 2009 Scholarship program. Based on applications submitted, the recipients were presented their awards at the Chapter banquet. They are both Kappans for 2009 and include: Patricia Willams, a masters student, and Natalie Saladino, undergraduate, who is an elementary education major. Congratulations to both of these recipients.
