PDK Educational Foundation

The Phi Delta Kappa Educational Foundation was the brainchild of Dr. George Reavis, a former educator and school superintendent, when he left a major legacy to PDK back in the 1970s. (He was the author of the fable "The Animal School," so well known to educators.) As a result PDK has undertaken many worthy projects to promote education over the years-one of the most visible is the PDK Fastback Series which addresses many educational issues in the form of short booklets, which are easily read by educators and parents. Each year Kappans are given the opportunity to make a contribution to the foundation at the time you renew annual dues. We urge each chapter member to contribute at least $5 to the Foundation when you send in your dues. We would like to have Chapter 101 to have 100% participation in the Foundation for this next year.

Fellow Kappan:

The Phi Delta kappa Educational Foundation is very important to the work of our organization. The foundation provides scholarships, publishes books, sponsors seminars and institutions, and supports other significant activities. An example of the scholarships available is the Gerald Howard Read International Seminar Scholarship. An application for this scholarship is available at http://www.pdkintl.org/travel/tschol.htm. For the Educational Foundation to sustain its good work your voluntary donation is needed.

This year, President of our local chapter, has set a chapter goal of becoming a 20/20 Club. Over half of all chapters earned this recognition last year. We need your help in achieving this goal and becoming a chapter that supports the good work of the Foundation.

The international office sends the pledge card annually to each member. There are three options: a permanent pledge to be paid with your membership dues, a pledge for next year and a gift for this year, or a gift for this year. To help our chapter achieve its goal gifts will need to be at least $5.00.
Please join me in our collective efforts to support the PDK Educational Foundation.
