Motto & Mission

The 3 Rs (research, resources, relevance) that comprise the motto summarize the qualities that make the
Study Council a unique entity in this service area.

Research:    The Study Council is in a unique position to assist the field in studying issues, conducting
action  research, and planning and implementing program evaluation systems.

Resources:    The faculty, as well as other  resources of the University, provide the Study Council with a vast
array of resources to offer to the member districts.   Texas A & M University-Commerce has outstanding
faculty, not only in the College of Education, but also in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of
Business and technology.  In addition  to being recognized throughout Texas, many of the faculty members
are also known nationally and internationally.
Relevance:  The Study Council offers accurate, pertinent, and timely information and assistance.
Educators contracting with the Study Council receive products and services tailored to their situations
          and specifications.  Satisfaction is guaranteed.

The Study Council's original purposes remain unchanged; it was established in order to improve schools
through  research, cooperation, and information. It still serves as a forum for educational ideas, a vehicle for
exchanging ideas, for sharing effective practices, for discussing common problems and current issues, and for
conducting research  cooperatively. The strategies for achieving the Council's mission have evolved over the
years, but the basic objectives have remained constant.

The East Texas School Study Council is a member of  the National School Development Council (NSDC).
