Currently about 30 Bangladeshi Students are in this University Campus.
Most of the students are doing their Masters in Computer Science. About
4 students are doing MBA.
There is only 3 pre-requisite courses for
Computer Science (C++, Data Structures and Assembly Language). After
completing these prerequisites you can take core courses. It takes approx a year and a half to complete the program.
However this depends on the individual. There are different tracks to
complete (networking, database etc.). You can do any track you want. See
the course plan to obtain detailed information for course
selection.
Commerce is approx. 60 miles northeast of Dallas. There is a
Greyhound bus service from Dallas to Commerce which operates only once a
day*. Greenville is another township approx. 20 miles from Commerce on
the way to Dallas. The frequency of Greyhound bus service is higher from
Dallas to Greenville.
You can also hire a cab to get to Commerce. One of the agency which
takes care of dropping people from Airport to University can be
contacted at 903-454-6084, 903-450-5218 (Contact Person Ms. Sandra ). It
will cost you approximately $50. You have to make an appointment at
least
3 to 4 days prior to your arrival. Normally any other cab will cost you
around $100.
From Dallas
Take Interstate 30 east to Texarkana. Go through Greenville and take
exit 101 (Hwy.50) to Commerce approximately 10 miles. Go through the
first light when you get to Commerce and turn right on University Drive.
(This is the entrance to the University).
From Denton
Take Hwy. 380 to Greenville. From the 380 and Hwy. 69 junction, go right
on Hwy. 69 to Interstate 30 approximately 5-6 miles. Go over Interstate
30 and take I 30 east to Texarkana. Take exit 101 (Hwy. 50) to Commerce
about 10 miles. Go through the first light when you get to Commerce and
turn right on University Drive. (This is the entrance to the
University).
Commerce experiences pleasant to extreme weather with normally cool
winters to hot summers. Summers with the temperature ranging from 80-95
degree F. requires light cotton clothing's where as winters are
generally not very cold and Commerce normally does not get snowfall.
Light to medium woolens clothes (half /full sleeves pullover or light
jackets) are recommended. An umbrella or a rain coat is also recommended
for the rainy season.

Housing Scholarship
There is housing scholarship available
in this university which will reduce your tuition about $330 per course
(Out of tuition per course is about $1004). The housing scholarship is
not available in all semester. So, you have to check before applying.

Graduate Assistantship
Graduate Assistantship is another form
of financial aid. If you get a GA then you can pay instate tuition and
you will get $800 per month. But you have to work 20 hours per week for
that. It is very
difficult to say which department has GA offerings. The best thing is to
approach contact each department through an email.
Off Campus
There are very few off campus job
facilities in commerce. There is three Bangladeshi Gas Station in
Greenville which is 15 miles from Commerce. You can work there. You can
also get Work Authorization to work off campus.
If you don't have a GA or housing
scholarship then the fees will be approx $1000 per course.
You have to take 15 courses (including prerequisites) to complete the
degree. For each semester, it will be ideal to take 3 courses. Off
campus housing will cost approx $400 per month for a single bed room
apartment. You can share with other Students. If you are coming here and
do not have a GA, it is ideal to carry $5000 which includes cost of 3
courses and your initial expenses. Living costs per month (including
rent) will be approx $500.
